Founded in 2004 in San Francisco, California, Modern Cabana is a private, family-owned business that provides its clients with small pre-fabricated buildings of the highest quality, value, and design integrity.

Malibu Compost Now Available

Magic Gardens is the East Bay source for Malibu Compost’s biodynamic blend – the first biodynamic bagged compost. Here is what Randy, owner of Malibu Compost has to say about his unique product...

Compost is a curious thing. If you ask ten people what to do with compost you will get ten different answers. The fact is that compost is simple. It’s not complicated. It’s decomposed plant, animal and organic material that has become humus. Soil. It’s the soul of the earth. Really good compost like our biodynamic blend can heal the ecosystem of your soil. The difference between all of the bagged composts on the market is what went in to making them. Bu’s Blend Biodynamic Compost has the best ingredients known to man in it for making compost; dairy cow manure, Biodynamic vineyard clippings, traces of manger straw, concentrated doses of Biodynamic preparations; yarrow, chamomile, valerian, stinging nettle, dandelion and oak bark along with a healthy dose of the cosmos.

JML Studios at Magic Gardens

Designed by John Lamos, JML Studios garden décor products are made using an innovative, eco-friendly material that creates the look of aged wood or rock, but with the durability of cement.

The cast stone “cementitious” material is a proprietary mix, using 60% recycled and reclaimed material. Each mold is created using textures found in nature, such as grass, rock, leaves and sticks; wood that has fallen naturally (eucalyptus, cedar, bamboo, oak bark); and natural fabrics (linen, mesh, netting). This gives each product a true-to-life appearance, without having a negative impact on the environment.

Handcrafted in Northern California, no two products are exactly alike, so each garden piece is a work of art that makes a stunning focal point in any garden.

Baia Nicchia

Baia Nicchia is an organic farm located in Sunol, California, specializing in gourmet vegetables and herbs that thrive in the Bay Area.

A trained biologist, owner Fred Hempel and his partner Jill Shepard have a mission beyond breeding tomatoes: educating people on the best way to grow tomatoes. "If people really knew what tomatoes are supposed to taste like, they wouldn't buy them at the grocery store."

Magic Gardens will be the Berkeley source for Baia Nicchia’s organic vegetable and herb starts, including their specialty tomatoes.
