What is Co-Creations?
Co-Creations is a unique program designed for the hands-on gardener who prefers to actively participate in improving their garden (or working in conjunction with their gardener). This well-established program has been gaining popularity over the past few years. It is an excellent way for us to offer our years of plant expertise and design experience to our clients. They get a highly personalized dream garden at an affordable price.
Our Co-Creation designers will give you ideas for updating your garden design and offer their in-depth knowledge and expertise in choosing just the right plants for your garden and your individual style. We can also advise you about the structural/technical expertise needed for new garden installations.
Co-Creations’ design and placement service includes:
- A Consultation and Site Visit
- A Nursery Visit for Plant Selection
- On-Site Plant Placement & Planting Instructions
- Optional Services may include Irrigation, Soil Refurbishing & Hardscape Services
How it Works
Site Visit – In our quest to realize a unique garden paradise for our clients, our first step is to meet with you in your garden. This is our chance to learn about your personal style as well as the practical and cultural needs of your site. We brainstorm on site, determining the current merits and problem areas of your space, offering design input and fresh ideas. The on-site consultation usually last 1 hour and cost $150. To proceed after the consultation, Co-Creations will present a written proposal based on the time and materials needed for the agreed upon project.
Nursery Visit – We then meet at Magic Gardens Nursery and Propagation Grounds. Plant selection is a fun, cooperative process. Selection is based on your preferences (color, texture, plant form) and design needs. We carry over 3,000 different plants over the course of the year. We will fashion a plant list and along with you, hand-select only those plants that will flourish in your garden.
On-Site Plant Placement – Your personally selected plants will be placed in the ideal spot for you or your workers to plant.
If needed we can advise about structural elements such as walkways, small retaining walls, patios, water features and container placement. Magic Gardens has a fulltime irrigation technician who can design a new irrigation system or retrofit your existing system. If you have had problems with water coverage or drainage problems, we can help.
Benefits to our Clients
Co-Creations offers the same professional designs that Magic Gardens full service contracting provides, but you save substantially on cost by doing the work yourself. You also have the option of Magic Gardens installing certain hardscapes (such as building a beautiful stone wall) but with you or your workers doing the planting.
Many of our Co-Creation clients have told us that they are so happy we provide this service. They not only have a beautiful garden but they learned so much from our professional guidance. Each homeowner receives an installation guide detailing how to prepare the site for planting (soil prep, grading, weed elimination, planting technique and mulching).

We cannot legally design structural work for other independent or third party contractors to install, but can design for you, the homeowner. Any conceptual drawings, landscape plans or sketches can only depict the proposed design layout conceptually; they do not spell out detailed construction specifications for others to install. There are no expensive planting plans needed for the Co-Creations program.
